CANSANCIO TEARS is a violent exercise to challenge power structures in a moving body informed by cultural,  political and social contexts. This interactive research led performance aims to question and exhaust the perception of Latin American women established through patriarchal structures, embedded in religion, codes of conduct, narco-culture and the figure of the macho in societies like the Colombian and Argentinian ones.

The instruction are simple. Each atendee will be given a card with a command. They can use it as many times as they want, the only condition is that they must be clear. Otherwise, nothing will happen.

Mariana Aristizabal Pardo (Colombia) is a director and performer based in London and Malena Arcucci (Argentina) is a designer  and theatre maker based between London and Amsterdam. In 2016, they founded a theatre company that focuses on creating pieces that sit in a liminal space between reality and fiction, experimenting with different types of language, either verbal or physical, and working alongside artists from different  backgrounds to explore the possibilities of a theatrical practice that fuses their Latin American heritage with their artistic  practices in London. They have developed work locally and internationally (London, Amsterdam, Buenos Aires and Bogotá).Their last show ‘I occur  here’ was awarded Theatrical Production of the Year at the Lukas Awards, and was critically acclaimed.
