Friday March 15 | Session 15:05 - 16:25 (10 min)
University Theatre Building | University Theatre
TINA — there is no alternative — is the condition we live in, and voluntarily or unvoluntary believe in. Attempts to prove the opposite are doomed to stay marginal, as long as they are severely sanctioned by the established market structures. How to open up a space for new structures to emerge? How to stand against "the power of power"?

This audio paper aims to guide the engaged participant to new insights, moved by imagination, drawing from somatic practices and visualization techniques. It is a teaser of a longer participative audio piece that will take place in summer 2019 on the square in front of two big universities of Berlin, the University of the Arts and the Technical University. Especially the latter has a prominent place in the history of the students revolts of 1968. It would be hard to imagine that revolutionary energy inside these institutions today, for various reasons. The placement outside and opposite the established university buildings can be read as mirroring the barriers of acceptance in knowledge production.

Concept, Text, Performance: Stephanie Hanna
Soundscape: Bernhard Wöstheinrich, Stephanie Hanna
Stephanie Hanna works process-oriented and situation-specific with audio, video, performance, spacial and shifting installations and likes to invite participation into the process of creation and reception of her artistic practice. She studied theatre design in Berlin and the Netherlands (BA, HKU 2001) and received the MA "Art in Context" at the University of the Arts in Berlin in 2006. In 2017, she wrote "a depowerment manifesto", kicking off an ongoing research into artistic attitudes and practices to fairly balance the world, and specifically to rethink power relations through social and somatic practices.
